THE MOOSE IS FOUND!!

Yes, our beloved Max the Moose has been found wandering the streets of Lansing, MI ... his condition is such that the wonderful people of the Lansing Arts Council have taken Max under their care for a complete makeover. He has been pampered to the extreme and the makeover will be shared with all at the 2010 Statewide Ambassador Conference - A Capitol Affair. Sept 29, 30 and Oct. 1.

My oh my, Spring has sprung in a big way in Lansing. We have a newly named stadium Cooley Law School Stadium and the playing field is now the Jackson National field. What would we do without our corporate sponsors?
With the changes being made in downtown Lansing it only seems natural that our beloved moose Max follows suit. The only problem is we don't know where the moose is..... zero sightings as of this writing.
If you happen to see Max, send him our way - only 5 months until A Capitol Affair begins!!

Happy New Year! As you see, the moose celebrated way too well! In fact he is still recovering from his party days.......
We are within nine months (aka "conference baby") of getting the moose back in Lansing. We are so sure that he will be ready for an extreme makeover that the Lansing Arts Council has volunteered to makeover our mascot. For those who do not know the history of the moose here is what we've ben told:

History of the traveling moose……

And it all began in 1990 when Midland sponsored a half-day event with three other chambers, Bay City, Saginaw and Grand Haven.

Grand Haven kindly sponsored the following year 1991. Unfortunately no knowledge if it was a half-day or entire day event.

Midland stepped forward and sponsored again in 1992.

Bay City offered the first two day event on a Thursday and Friday in 1993. They showcased their area and offered educational breakout sessions. A total of 50 ambassadors were in attendance. A good time was had by all and reference was made to three individuals whose first names were Jack, Tom and Moose. I would presume Moose was his nickname, (whoever you might be).

Petosky bid for the 1994 event and Chamber President Andy Hayes came up with and built the moose. Yes….the moose was born. He became the conference mascot and was to be passed onto the chamber who won the bid for the following year.

In 1995 Lenawee County took the moose and dressed him up with their conference theme. The “moose” became a clogger that year!

In 1996 he traveled to Flint for a Murder Mystery.

In 1997 he spent some time in Ludington and “Rocked their Boat”.

Boy that moose, he likes to golf and he found himself “Tee’d off for Success in Saginaw for 1998 event.

In 1999, the moose spent the year Rocking N, the New Millenimum with Southern Wayne County.

He played politics with Lansing in 2000.

In 2001, he enjoyed all the Four Winds Boats on Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell at the Cadillac Conference.

In 2002, due to unforeseen circumstances Dearborn was unable to hold the conference and Mt. Pleasant stepped up to the plate…I think the moose lost all his money at Soaring Eagle!

Jackson saw the moose zoom the track at MIS in 2003.

A Survive not just Thrive theme excited Midland again and Chamber President Duane Marsh saw the conference land back with them for 2004.

In 2005 the moose learned that breakfast every morning was the way to go and Tony the Tiger became his friend in Battle Creek.

A college degree ? …Yes the moose was off to Adrian in 2006.

In 2007 a Ludington visit was due again and a trip to “Re-Rock” the Badger Boat was a given.

In 2008 Sterling Heights added big wheels to his feet to celebrate their theme"Big Wheels Keep on Turnin'".

2009 was Fenton's turn to host the moose.. that's where things got a little sticky..... The Moose left Fenton of his own accord and began traveling on his own. He's been spotted in various locations (Fenton, of course, Frankenmuth, and now at some wild New Year's party).

This year, 2010 Lansing's Capitol Affair will be an event not to be missed..
